The Take 'Em to School Poker Tournament presented by World Poker Tour Foundation benefits Education Reform Now's work to ensure every child receives a high quality public education.
At ERN, we staunchly believe every child is entitled to a high-quality public education. We seek to create progressive education at both the federal and state level that will guarantee a quality public education to all students, especially those previously denied that right. We advocate for policies that will empower all students—particularly students of color, students from low-income backgrounds and other historically underserved students—to reach their limitless potential. For instance, as part of the COVID-19 relief and recovery efforts, ERN worked to persuade Congress to statutorily require states to set aside at least $28 billion (of the $122 billion in total education recovery aid) for “evidence-based” interventions to address learning loss. This past year, ERN's New York chapter increased funding for charter schools, forged new alliances in championing school choice for NY students and families, increased funding for efforts to diversify the teacher pipeline, helped launch an initiative to reduce the cost of broadband for students and family to be able to access remote learning during the pandemic.
